Biography of Amankbek Zamanbekovich Battalkhanov
(Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Transport and Machine Building of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization)
The highest and most magnificent peaks of the Tien Shan mountain range — the Kungey Alatau, the Terskey Alatau, and the Kyrgyz Alatau — stretch from west to east, crowned year-round with glistening white snow. From afar, these eternal glaciers appear mottled or “ala,” which means “spotted” in Kazakh. It is from this word that the name Alatau originates.
Between the towering ridges of Kungey Alatau and Terskey Alatau begins the course of the largest river in the Zhetysu region — the Ili River. It is in this sacred land, nestled at the foot of the Kungey Alatau, in the village of Kölzhat, that Amanbek Zamanbekuly Battalkhanov was born into a humble family of a teacher and a collective farm worker.
The Ketmen mountain massif consists of several ridges, the largest of which is the Toksanbay Ridge. This name is officially recorded on all maps and recognized in geographical references. The ridge was named in honor of Toksanbay, the great-grandfather of Amanbek Battalkhanov.
