Bauyrzhan Arystanovich Zhunusov was born on August 5, 1958, in the village of Pyatigorka, Kobda District, Aktobe Region, into the family of a rural school teacher.

From 1965 to 1973, he studied at Karatal Eight-Year School. In 1975, he graduated from Secondary School No. 12 in Almaty. In 1980, he graduated from the Almaty Institute of National Economy (now Narxoz University), after which he was appointed as a Research Trainee at the Department of National Economic Planning.

In May 1981, he was drafted into the Soviet Army. During his military service, in November 1982, he became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). After completing his military service, he returned to the Almaty Institute of National Economy, where he worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Department of National Economic Planning.

From 1983 to 1986, he pursued full-time postgraduate studies at the Almaty Institute of National Economy. From August 1986 to July 1988, he served as a Lecturer at the Department of National Economic Planning. In February 1988, he successfully defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation entitled "Improving the Planning of the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Cities in Kazakhstan (A Case Study of Aktobe Region)."

Following the successful defense of his dissertation in 1988, he was assigned by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Kazakh SSR to the Aktobe Pedagogical Institute, where he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Economy and the History of the CPSU.

From September 1994 to January 1996, he served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at K. Zhubanov Aktobe University. In February 1996, following the reorganization of the department, he was appointed Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Management. From 1997 to 1999, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics at K. Zhubanov Aktobe University. In September 1999, following the establishment of the new Department of Management, he was appointed its Head.

In 2000, in order to provide academic, methodological, and organizational support for the development of a newly established higher education institution, he was invited to serve as Head of the newly created Department of International Economics at the West Kazakhstan Institute of Economics and Finance. At the same time, during 2000–2001, he also served as Dean of the Faculty of International Economics and Information Systems at S. Baishev Aktobe University.

In September 2001, he returned to K. Zhubanov Aktobe State University, where he worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, and from September 2004 as a Professor of the department. From February 2005 to August 2008, he served as Head of the Department of Economic Theory. Between September 2008 and August 2014, he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics at K. Zhubanov Aktobe State University.

From September 2014 to December 25, 2016, he served as Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics and Law at K. Zhubanov Aktobe State University. From December 26, 2016 to May 1, 2017, he held the position of Chief Academic Secretary of the university.

He is currently a Professor of the Department of Public Administration, Finance and Marketing at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University.

For more than forty years of academic and pedagogical service, Professor Bauyrzhan A. Zhunusov has made a significant contribution to the development of economic science, higher education, and the training of highly qualified specialists. His professional career has been closely associated with the advancement of economic education, the improvement of the educational process, and the establishment of a distinguished academic school in the fields of economics, public administration, and regional development.

In recognition of his many years of distinguished academic and teaching service and his outstanding contribution to higher education, Professor Zhunusov was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1993. In 2004, he was awarded the academic rank of Professor at K. Zhubanov Aktobe State University. His scholarly achievements have also received international recognition. In 2002, he was elected a Corresponding Member of the International Informatization Academy, and in 2015 he became a Full Member (Academician) of the Academy, in recognition of his substantial contributions to economic science, higher education, and research.

Professor Zhunusov is the author and co-author of numerous textbooks, teaching manuals, and instructional materials that are widely used in higher education institutions throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan. His most notable publications include: Fundamentals of Market Economics (1994), Fundamentals of Economic Theory (1995), State Regulation of the Regional Economy (1996), The Agricultural Market Sector: Problems and Prospects for Development (1998), Theoretical Economics (1998), General Economic Theory (Kazakh edition, 2004), General Economic Theory (Russian editions, 2004 and 2013), Fundamentals of Management (Kazakh edition, 2004), Fundamentals of Management (Russian edition, 2004), History of Economic Thought (2006), Macroeconomics (2010), State Regulation of the Economy (2014), Regional Economics and Management (2020), and Managerial Decision-Making (2026).

These textbooks and teaching materials have received high recognition from the academic community and are extensively used by university lecturers, undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral candidates, and researchers.

Professor Zhunusov is also a co-author of the scientific monograph Development and Distribution of Industry in Small and Medium-Sized Cities of Kazakhstan (Alma-Ata: Nauka Publishing House, 1988), which has made a significant contribution to research in regional economics and territorial development.

His research activities are characterized by both productivity and scholarly relevance. He has published more than 250 scientific works devoted to economic theory, public administration, regional economics, state regulation of the economy, management, and the socio-economic development of territories.

Professor Zhunusov was the initiator and one of the principal organizers of a number of international scientific and practical conferences (2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2014), as well as national conferences (1989 and 2002), which brought together leading economists from Kazakhstan and other CIS countries.

He has repeatedly presented research papers at international and national academic conferences held in Orenburg, Kazan, Ufa, Tashkent, Nukus, Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kokshetau, Oral, Shymkent, Taraz, Atyrau, Turkistan, and Aktobe. In recognition of the high scientific quality of his research and professional excellence, he was awarded the Diploma of the Second International Economic Congress in the nomination "Excellence in Evidence-Based Presentation" (Karaganda, 2006).

Professor Zhunusov has consistently worked to improve the quality of higher education through the implementation of modern teaching methodologies, innovative educational technologies, and the continuous enhancement of pedagogical excellence. He served as a member of the Educational and Methodological Council for the group of educational programmes "Social Sciences, Economics and Business" within the Republican Educational and Methodological Council operating under Narxoz University. He was also a member of the Association of Economists of Kazakhstan.

In 2014, Professor Zhunusov completed an international academic internship at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics (People's Republic of China), where he studied contemporary approaches to higher education, scientific research, and international academic cooperation.

Professor Bauyrzhan A. Zhunusov maintains active academic and professional collaborations with international scholars and higher education institutions. Over many years, he has established productive partnerships with Orenburg State University, Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Ufa University of Science and Technology (the legal successor to Bashkir State University), Berdakh Karakalpak State University, and the Orenburg Branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

Professor Zhunusov is distinguished by his active civic engagement and meaningful contribution to the public life of the university, the city of Aktobe, and the Aktobe Region. He participated in the December 1986 events in Kazakhstan, reflecting his strong sense of civic responsibility and commitment to the future of his country. For many years, he served as a member of the Information and Public Outreach Groups under the Akimat of Aktobe Region, responsible for explaining the annual Addresses of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the nation. In this capacity, he regularly delivered public lectures and presentations to employees of government institutions, enterprises, and organizations, actively contributing to civic education and public awareness initiatives throughout the region.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 10, 2011, Professor Zhunusov was awarded the commemorative medal "20 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in recognition of his contribution to the country's development. In 2015, he served as an authorized representative of a candidate in the Presidential Election of the Republic of Kazakhstan, actively participating in public and political events and meetings with voters.

For his many years of distinguished professional, academic, and public service, his significant contribution to patriotic education, and his active civic engagement, Professor Zhunusov has been awarded numerous Certificates of Honor by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akim of Aktobe Region, the Akim of the City of Aktobe, and the Aktobe Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.

Professor Zhunusov was among the founders of the Faculty of Economics at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University and made an outstanding contribution to its establishment and development. Drawing upon his extensive academic, pedagogical, and practical experience, he continues to mentor young faculty members, doctoral candidates, master's students, and undergraduates, placing particular emphasis on the preparation of highly qualified professionals and the advancement of scientific research.

Professor Zhunusov enjoys well-deserved respect among colleagues, students, and the academic community as a distinguished scholar, an outstanding educator, and an inspiring mentor.

In his personal life, Professor Zhunusov serves as an example of responsibility, mutual respect, and devotion to family values. Together with his wife, Lazira Shakenovna, with whom he has shared more than 38 years of a happy marriage, he raised two accomplished sons, Zhomart and Beibarys. Today, they take great pride in the achievements of their granddaughter Medina, who continues the family's traditions and represents its bright future.
