Autobiography

Svetlana Korneyevna Shapkina is an educator, teacher of Visual Arts and Arts & Crafts, methodologist, author of educational and methodological manuals and curricula, and mentor to young teachers.

She was born on September 19, 1958. She is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For more than thirty years, she has devoted her professional career to the field of education, making a significant contribution to the development of art education, the cultivation of students' creative potential, and the improvement of teaching practices.

Svetlana Korneyevna associates the beginning of her teaching career with a deep understanding of the world of children. According to her, her journey as an educator began while raising her own children, when she realized the importance and complexity of educating and developing a child. This realization became the foundation of her professional choice and her growth as a dedicated teacher.

She is currently a teacher of Visual Arts and Arts & Crafts at School-Gymnasium No. 103 under the Education Department of Almaty. She received her first higher education from Dzhambul Hydraulic Engineering and Construction Institute, majoring in Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation (1986). In 2023, she graduated from Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University with a degree in Visual Arts, Arts & Crafts, and Design.

Svetlana Korneyevna is the author and co-author of numerous textbooks, workbooks, methodological recommendations, and educational programs. Under her leadership and with her direct participation, educational and methodological complexes in Visual Arts for primary schools, workbooks on drawing, modeling, applique, and construction for preschool and primary school children, as well as elective course programs entitled "Design and Technical Drawing," "Stencil Painting," and "Artistic Creativity" were developed. She also contributed to the development of modern standard curricula for the subjects "Visual Arts" and "Graphics and Design."

A special place in her professional activity is devoted to mentoring young teachers. Since 2016, she has coordinated the School for Young Teachers in Almaty. Within this initiative, seminars, coaching sessions, round-table discussions, and a mentoring system are organized to facilitate the professional adaptation and development of beginning educators. As a member of an authors' team, she also contributed to the professional development program for young teachers entitled "Experience for the Young."

In her teaching practice, she actively applies modern educational technologies, interactive teaching methods, project-based learning, museum pedagogy, virtual excursions, and digital educational resources. Her primary educational objective is to foster students' creativity, artistic taste, aesthetic appreciation, and cultural awareness.

Students of Svetlana Korneyevna have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of international, national, and municipal competitions and Olympiads in Visual Arts and Artistic Creativity. Their achievements include a gold medal at the International Visual Arts Olympiad in Antalya, as well as victories in competitions such as "Nauryz – The Spring of Renewal," "World of Flowers," "Autumn in My City," and many other creative projects.

Svetlana Korneyevna has also made a significant contribution to public activities. Since 2014, she has participated in the international educational project "School of Healthy Nutrition," promoting cooperation among students and teachers from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. She pays particular attention to patriotic, moral, and spiritual education of young people.

Her professional achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and certificates of appreciation. She is a winner and prize-winner of professional teaching competitions, recipient of the medals "For Contribution to the Development of Education" and "Alash Ustazy (Teacher of Alash)," and has been included in the International Encyclopedia "The Best People. The Best in Education." She has also participated as an expert in the evaluation of national-level textbooks and educational programs.

Svetlana Korneyevna Shapkina continues her active work in advancing art education, implementing innovative educational technologies, and preparing a new generation of teachers. Her professional career serves as an example of dedication to education, a creative approach to teaching, and sincere devotion to children and the teaching profession.

In May 2026, she was elected a Corresponding Member of the International Informatization Academy (IIA).
