The most powerful explosion in the universe

Astronomers at the International Center for Radio Astronomy Research have discovered the most powerful explosion in the universe. There were no similar events after the Big Bang. This is reported in a press release on EurekAlert. [hi-tech.mail.ru]

The explosion occurred 390 million light years from Earth in the Snake Cluster. The source was a supermassive black hole.

"We 've already seen outbreaks in galaxy centres, but this one is much more powerful," Professor Melanie Johnston-Hollitt told me, "but we don 't know why the explosion turned out to be so big."

According to the scientist, the cataclysm took place extremely slowly, as an explosion in slow-motion shooting, stretching for hundreds of millions of years. Dr. Simone Jacintuchi stressed that its capacity was comparable to the eruption of the St. Helens volcano in 1980, in which it was partially destroyed. 'The difference is you 'll be able to accommodate 15 Milky Ways into the crater that 's left behind by this eruption.'

The reasons for this explosion are not yet clear. Astronomers plan to increase efforts to deal with the detected phenomenon.
