This hypothesis was formulated by the Italian astrophysicist Giulio Magli. Conclusions of the scientist are published by Eurekalert, RIA News reports. A cavity 30 meters long  was found by means of a muon scan. The chamber  is over the large gallery. It is sealed, and its purpose is still a mystery. Despite the fact that some Egyptologists reacted to the discovery with obvious skepticism, Mugli believes that newly found voids was hardly a mistake made during the construction, neither did it carry an architectural function such as reducing the load on the main corridor of the pyramid. According to the astrophysicist, for the  erection of this room, ancient builders should have a good reason. He assumed that in the secret room there might be a "portal" for sending the pharaoh to the afterlife. He reminded that in one of the Egyptian funeral texts said that the pharaoh, before reaching the stars of the north, will have to pass the "gates of the sky" and sit on his "throne of iron.  The scientist noted that in the pyramid there are four "air ducts" along which the spirit of the deceased ruler could "get out", while the passage leading to the north ends with a sealed door. It is behind this door, according to Magli, that there is chamber containing the throne.

He recalled that inside the same pyramid the throne of Cheop’s mother Queen Hetepheres had been discovered. It had a low cedar base covered in gold and faience.
